What we need

We’re looking for an experienced Product Owner who will be based at our head office in Collingwood, Melbourne (Australia) to work within our Product Development team.

The Flippa Product Owner partners with business stakeholders to understand, analyze, refine, prioritize and communicate business needs to ensure that the engineering team fully understands the project scope, objectives and requirements. The Product Owner leads collaboration, facilitates dev cycle activities, and creates and communicates requirements that translate business needs into executable requirements.

Through a combination of strong business understanding, solid analytical and problem- solving skills, and excellent interviewing and facilitating techniques, the Product Owner will take the lead in translating business needs into solutions and features.


  • Specifies the outcomes and priorities for projects of important scope and impact
  • Works with the CEO, CTO and the engineering team and is capable of coordinating requirements with other teams to deliver key business value to our buyers and sellers
  • Works with Engineering Leads and Developers to build release plans, manage development and delivery of user stories according to plan and provide business with LoE estimates for key initiatives
  • Builds out and manages user story backlogs
  • Facilitates collaboration meetings with development, design, marketing and key executives 
  • Balances business requirements with technical feasibility and scalability
  • Ability to prioritise and drive sound business decisions
  • Identifies project inter-dependencies
  • Effectively delivers presentations to key customer/stakeholders and senior management (you will need to speak with our customers)
  • Launch programs including owning launch communications internally and externally

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong facilitation and collaboration techniques
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present complex ideas simply
  • Experience and knowledge of software development process
  • Extensive understanding of the Agile development process and best practices
  • Knowledge of the principles of product management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on a B2B platform and / or marketplaces
