About the role

This position will assist in facilitating the financial reporting, tax compliance and day to day finance operational requirements at Flippa. Reporting to our Finance Manager you will play a key role collaborating with all team members of Flippa to deliver successful customer and business outcomes.

What you will be working on

This is a fast paced and varied role where you will have ownership for the accounts receivable and payable processes as well as payroll for both Australian and US entities.  

You will also be responsible for month end activities such as preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly management accounts.  

In addition, you will assist in the preparation and maintenance of budgets and forecasts for all trading business (including cash flow forecasts) including the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist with the cash flow / treasury function
  • Maintain the integrity of the accounting information system
  • General ledger reconciliations
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconcile monthly
  • Tax compliance (Income Tax, GST,FBT, Payroll Tax and US Federal and state taxes)
  • SitePoint half yearly royalty calculations and payments
  • Assist with EMDG and R&D grant preparation as required
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers (disposals, Additions and transfers)
  • Maintaining the corporate registers for all entities within the group
  • Assist with annual external audit process
  • Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data

Skills and experience

We are looking for an experienced Accountant with tertiary accounting qualifications, CA ANZ/CPA member or in the process of becoming a member.

Ideally you will have at least 2 years professional accounting experience and you will possess the following attributes:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Professional and enthusiastic with a "can do" attitude
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
  • Strong analytical skills and an inquisitive mind
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exposure to accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks
  • Understanding of foreign currency
